Throughout the summer holidays until Sunday 3 September museums across Suffolk are offering a host of exciting events, activities, workshops and trails for the whole family.  Most of the activities are either low-cost or free.  You can download your free Summer in Suffolk Museums program at http://bit.ly/SuffolkSummer2017.

Lavenham Guildhall - Spinning Demonstrations - 3 August.  Visit Lavenham Guildhall on one of the spinning Thursdays and see volunteers in action demonstrating the traditional art of spinning.

Red Rose Chain presents Shakespeare's As You Like It - Until Sunday 27 August, Jimmy's Farm, IP9 2AP.  A fantastic production of one of Shakespeare's most bewitching comedies, full of energy, music and dance and an ideal introduction to Shakespeare for all-ages.  Tickets from £10 to £25.50.

Melford Hall - Melford Hall's Railway Walk - Saturday 5 August.  A guided walk taking in some railway history as well as the natural beauty of the Suffolk countryside.

The Country Fair - Melford Hall, Long Melford - Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August.  A weekend of falconry, dog agility, dancing horses and trade stands featuring crafts, food and drink in the ground of beautiful Melford hall.  £10 adult, £5 child.  www.melfordcountryfair.co.uk

Real Ale and Oyster Festival - Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August, The Anchor, Main Street, Walberswick.  Walberswick is definitely worth a day out and why not combine it with the festival with live music, oysters, ale and food.

Guided Tour of Clare Castle and Clare Castle Country Park - Saturday 5 August, 11am - 12.30pm.  Visit the remains of the Norman castle built by the founder of the de Clare family and also the beautiful village of Clare.

Kentwell at War - Saturday 6 and Sunday 6 August, Kentwell hall, Long Melford, CO10 9BA.  A great day out for all the family.

The Festival of Classic and Sports Cars - Helmingham Hall Gardens, Helmingham IP14 6EF - Sunday 6 August, 10am - 5pm. There will be 100's of cars on display, as well as the chance to visit the beautiful Hall and gardens.

Music in the Gardens - Helmingham Hall - Sunday 13 August. Listen to lovely music in the beautiful gardens at Helmingham Hall.

FolkEast - 18 - 20 August, Glemhall Hall.  Nominated for the Best Small Festival Award in the UK Festival Awards.  A family-friendly festival all set within the beautiful Suffolk countryside.

Flatford Ramble - Constable's Footsteps - Saturday 19 August, 1pm until 4pm.  Flatford, East Bergholt, CO7 6UL.  Join experienced guides for a 3 hour 4 mile ramble visiting the views that inspired the artist John Constable.  The tour will also visit East Bergholt and Dedham.  Booking essential tel: 0344 249 1895.  Children welcome.

Aldeburgh Carnival - Saturday 19 August - Monday 21 August.  Three wonderful days of carnival fun including live music, carnival procession and a fantastic fireworks display on Monday at 9.15.  See www.aldeburghcarnival.com for more informtion.

Tudor Hands On Days - Monday 21 August - Thursday 24 August, Kentwell Hall, Long Melford.  Fun actitivity day for the whole family.

Lavenham Farmers Market - Sunday 27 August, Lavenham Village Hall, Church Street. 10 am - 1.30pm.  Over 30 of the highest quality small scale producers in Suffolk.

The Bury St Edmunds Food and Drink Festival - 27 and 28 August.  Hosted in the Arc Shopping Centre the festival includes a Farmers Market, street entertainment and celebrity chef appearances.

BBC's Antiques Roadshow - Helmingham Hall, IP14 6EF - Thursday 31 August.  Bring your treasures along to the BBC's Antique Roadshow at Helmingham Hall.
